Barrett Friendly Library was founded in 1909 by a group of area residents and the present building was constructed by the community.
The library serves the townships of Barrett and Paradise in Monroe County, consistently one of the two fastest growing counties in the state due to its proximity to New York City and Philadelphia.
Its service population is comprised of 6551 residents plus employees and visitors to the area who are not permanent residents. The library has 5,363+ cardholders; representing 73% of the residents served.
Its holdings include over 30,600 catalogued items and its annual circulation is over 60,000. Many of the townships’ residents are dependent on the local library for its sources of learning and pleasure.
Our public library has always been a place of warm welcome for neighbors. Our big fireplaces aren’t used to heat the library any more . . . But the welcome you’ll find is as warm as ever.
Looking forward to seeing you at your library!
