Policy on Borrowing Materials
To obtain a Barrett Paradise Friendly Library borrowers card:
- Present proper identification (photo ID) with your current address which verifies your permanent residence or property ownership in Barrett or Paradise Township.
- If you are under 16, your parent/guardian must provide identification and sign for responsibility.
- If you are a non-resident (without a PA Access library card) borrowing privileges cost $25 annually or $10 for three months.
Please bring your borrower’s card each time you visit. You must present your own card to borrow materials. The Library reserves the right to ask for additional identification. If you lose your card, there is a fee of $3.00 for each card replacement. Your borrower’s card is renewed every three years after date of issue. All fines and fees must be cleared before a card can be renewed for another three years. You are responsible for all items borrowed on your card. You may not lend your card to anyone.
Borrowing Periods and Limitations:
New Books – 14 days
Books, Magazines, Audio books – 21 days
DVDs – 7 days (limit: 10 DVDs per card)
You may borrow a total of 35 items at any one time in any combination.
There are no fines for overdue materials, but please return your items on time. Items that are more than 30 days past the due date change to “lost” on your account; a replacement fee of $5.00 in addition to the current retail replacement cost of the item is charged to your account for lost materials. If the item is then returned (in good condition), the charges are removed.
Borrowing privileges are suspended when charges on your card reach $10.00.
Most materials may be renewed TWO times as long as there are no holds pending; New adult books (Fiction, Non-Fiction, Biography, and Mystery) can only be renewed once as long as there are no holds pending. To renew by telephone, call (570) 595-7171 during Library business hours.
Items borrowed from our partner libraries (Monroe, Bangor, Lehigh Carbon libraries) and through InterLibrary Loan may have different lending policies and fees for lost materials.
Public computers are available for use. Computer users are asked to sign in at the front desk with a current borrower’s card from BPFL or any of the other public libraries in Monroe County. Guest passes are available for visitors with photo ID.
- Charges for computer printouts are $.25 per page for black & white, $.50 per page for color.
- Charges for use of copier are $.25 per page.
